Held from 24 to 26 November 2025 at the Makati Shangri-La Hotel, the convention brought together shipowners, clients, maritime professionals and hundreds of seafarers across the globe for three days of knowledge-sharing, collaboration, and forward-thinking discussions on the future of the maritime industry.
The convention marked a significant milestone as the three organizations joined forces to deliver a unified platform that highlights their shared commitment to seafarer competence, welfare, innovation, and digital transformation. By integrating their expertise in manning, ship management, and maritime training, the event demonstrated a collective vision of preparing the maritime workforce for the opportunities and challenges brought about by artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.
Throughout the convention, participants engaged in panel discussions and workshops covering key industry topics, including SIRE 2.0 implementation, RightShip and Port State Control (PSC) benchmarking, vessel inspection requirements, training effectiveness, crew welfare initiatives, and the evolving role of AI in maritime operations. Interactive surveys and open forums provided valuable insights from both shipowners and seafarers, fostering meaningful dialogue and collaboration.
A highlight of the event was the discussion on leveraging digitalization and AI while maintaining the critical role of human judgment and expertise. Reflecting the convention’s central theme, speakers emphasized that technology should empower seafarers and maritime professionals rather than replace them, ensuring that human intelligence remains at the heart of decision-making in the shipping industry.
The final day showcased the organizations’ ongoing digital transformation initiatives, including advances in data management, reporting, analytics, and crew performance monitoring. A dedicated Job Fair also provided principals and shipowners with the opportunity to meet and interview prospective candidates, further strengthening connections between maritime employers and future seafarers.
Beyond the technical discussions, the event celebrated the people behind the industry. The convention reinforced the shared belief that the success of maritime innovation depends on investing in competent, well-trained, and supported seafarers who continue to drive the industry forward.
As the first of its kind, the Crew Convention 2025 served as a testament to the enduring partnership between Augustea, Elburg, and I.M.A., laying the foundation for future collaborations that will shape the next generation of maritime excellence.
Together, we move forward—embracing innovation, strengthening competence, and keeping the seafarer at the center of maritime progress.
