AUGUSTEA HOLDS 9TH CREW CONFERENCE FOCUSED ON DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION

MANILA – Augustea Ship Manning Philippines Inc. successfully hosted its 9th Crew Conference on October 5–6, 2022, in the Rigodon Ballroo, The Manila Peninsula, bringing together seafarers, company executives, and their clients under the central theme: “The Digital Transformation of the Shipping Industry.”

The two-day event served as a platform for insightful discussions on emerging industry trends, updates on inspection protocols, digital innovation, workforce development, and recognition of outstanding seafarer contributions. Here is a recap of what was discussed during the conference:

Industry Developments in Focus

On the first day of the conference, key maritime developments were at the forefront. A session on the new RightShip inspection regime provided valuable insights into the revised safety and vetting standards affecting bulk carrier operations. Seafarers were briefed on how these updated protocols will influence inspections and compliance strategies across the fleet.

Also highlighted was the Dry Bulk Management Standard (DBMS), a voluntary framework designed to enhance ship performance and crew safety. The session encouraged alignment with best practices and proactive adoption of structured safety systems onboard.

Sustainability and Workforce Trends

In line with the global push for sustainability, a segment titled “The Road to 2050” tackled the industry’s journey toward decarbonization. Topics included alternative fuels, emission reduction targets, and the need to prepare seafarers for the next generation of eco-efficient vessels.

Attendees also reviewed the BIMCO/ICS Seafarer Workforce Report, which highlighted current and projected trends in the global maritime labor supply. The data underscored the growing demand for skilled officers and the importance of continuous training and development.

A performance report was shared, recognizing the achievements of Augustea’s deployed crew members and identifying areas for improvement. An open forum and survey session encouraged seafarers to share feedback and raise concerns, reinforcing the company’s commitment to open communication and operational transparency.

Celebrating Service and Talent

The second day of the conference was marked by recognition and celebration. Augustea awarded scholarship grants to deserving students which is part of the benefits of the roster program and is a yearly tradition.

In a heartfelt ceremony, loyalty awards were also given to seafarers who have shown years of dedicated service to the company. Their loyalty and professionalism were acknowledged as vital to the success and reliability of Augustea’s crew pool.

The event concluded with a gala dinner, offering an evening of camaraderie, music, and fellowship. Company executives expressed gratitude for the unwavering service of their seafarers and reaffirmed their commitment to crew welfare and career growth.

Steering Toward a Digital and Sustainable Future

As the maritime industry continues to navigate rapid technological change and environmental challenges, Augustea Ship Manning Philippines Inc. remains steadfast in its mission to lead with innovation and people-centric values. The 9th Crew Conference was a testament to the company’s ongoing efforts to equip its seafarers for the future—anchored in digital readiness, operational excellence, and strong human connection.
